GDC Workshop Announcements

During the GDC Workshop we will go over some background related to TCGA data and the GDC, as well as the structure and location of resources for the GDC, including the GDC recommended analysis sites cBioPortal and FireBrowse.  There is a lot to cover with the GDC and TCGA, so we will not get to it all.  Please visit the GDC Data Portal (see link in next section) and poke around if you have not already.  This will help you find your bearings during the presentation.

There will be 2 hands-on assignments:

  • The Basic assignment is required for earning the certificate and will ask questions about using FireBrowse and cBioPortal, which will be covered during the live walkthrough.
  • The Advanced assignment is optional.  This assignment is structured like a tutorial and will walk you through building a customized API call to query the GDC.  If you would like to complete this assignment please read the pre-workshop material in the left side-bar before coming to the session.

Links to the assignments, walkthroughs, and the presentation slides will appear in the left side bar the week of the workshop.
