Can't find what you need at VCU?

Get What You Need with ILLiad

VCU Libraries has hundreds of thousands of books, articles, documents, media choices, and more that you have direct access to for your research. Still can't find the item you want? Or is it simply checked out?. There are staff dedicated to making sure that you get what you need with a service called ILLiad to make it easy. The first step is to make an ILLiad account here.

Not sure if VCU Libraries has what you are looking for? With so much available, finding what you need is a skill in itself, involving VCU Libraries Search (the gold box at library.vcu.edu) and sometimes searching particular databases, journals, or books. Until you consider yourself a "power searcher," it may be wise to contact a librarian through any of the options at Ask Us to see if she or he can help first. The librarian can let you know if it is time to submit a request. When you are ready to use ILLiad, get help here.

When VCU Libraries Delivers

There are also times when, because you work or study primarily at one campus, you will want an item delivered to "your" library from the other campus. No problem. We've got you covered. From sending actual books between campuses to delivering a pdf document directly to your email, VCU Libraries will make it as convenient for you as we can. Faculty, staff, affiliates,, distance education students, and students with special needs...there are some off-campus delivery options for you here. And, again, it all begins with an ILLiad request.

Where You Can Help Yourself

Lastly, sometimes what you need is as close as a local college, university, or public library. Visit this page to learn about how to borrow items from these libraries, either with your VCU card, directly, or after a quick application.
