JSTOR is a big repository of scholarly articles. Many of the articles found here are from journals on ethics, culture, or society, and it has some science journals.

The ProQuest collection includes several different databases. Many of the articles found here are from medical journals, but it also includes the arts, business, and social sciences. Use the limit options on the right side of the results page to screen out results you don't want, such as long dissertations.

WestLaw has articles from both law journals and newspapers. It is a good place to find sources for the legal aspects and the newsworthy aspects of the topic.
