CRL coordinates the Reference Books Archive Project as part of its strategic plan to provide a framework for cooperative preservation of physical materials. Older reference sources may not be present in newer digital formats. Initially, 25 titles have been selected for this ongoing project, and include: Books in Print, Encyclopedia of Associations, Statesman's Year-Book, and Ulrich's Periodicals Directory.

CRL currently holds more than 500,000 monographs in a variety of formats available for access by member libraries. Microfilming projects ensure the continued availability of crucial research, including literature, art, theater, music, science, and other fields.
