What is Grey Literature?

A valuable supplement to peer reviewed literature in all disciplines, grey literature is authored by researchers and practitioners in all levels of government, universities, corporations, research organizations, NGOs, and professional organizations. It includes:

  • conference proceedings, committee reports, data & statistics, fact sheets, policy documents, technical documentation, testimony, white papers, working papers.

Find recent reliable statistics

A quick route to reliable information on a particular group or problem is a Google Search that limits results to the .gov domain. NOTE:

  • There are no spaces between site:.gov
  • The Boolean operator OR must be capitalized.

  • You can also add date limiters to locate the most recent statistics
  • "drug addiction" prevalence OR incidence OR trends site:.gov  2012..2015
  • NOTE: there are no spaces between 2012..2015
