While known primarily as a 3D model repository, Thingiverse also contains .svg files for download for laser cutting and design. Dedicated to sharing user-created digital design files under the GNU General Public License or Creative Commons License. Free
Cricut Design Space
Cricut-compatible software with free and paid designs available for use. Designs created in Design Space are not able to be exported. Free / $
Glowforge Community- Free Laser Designs
While most of these projects will have been cut on a Glowforge, the free downloadable .svg files are able to be imported to the Cricut and cut on Cricut-compatible material such as cardstock or cardboard.  Free

When you want to design your own objects. Computer stations at The Workshop also have more powerful commercial 3D design software, including Maya and 3ds Max.

Adobe Illustrator
Available for free for all VCU students, faculty, and staff, Adobe Illustrator is a professional-level tool for creating and editing .svg files that can be imported to Cricut Design Space or the Glowforge app.  Free
Inkscape
A free, and open-source vector graphics editor used to create vector images, primarily in Scalable Vector Graphics format. Free
