Free Resources for VCU Students

  • Suit Yourself Closet 
    • Collection of interview clothing free to VCU students
    • Students may take up to six items two times per month
    • Websites provides tips on styling for feminine, masculine, and gender neutral work-wear
  • The Money Spot
    • Free financial advice for VCU students
    • By appointment only
  • StudyWell
    • Programming run by VCU Libraries focused on student wellbeing
    • Open to all VCU students
  • Student Health Services
    • Unlimited visits for VCU students are covered by the semester health fee they are automatically charged 
    • Two locations, one on Monroe Park Campus and another on the MCV Campus
    • Offer free flu vaccines and condoms
  • Ram Pantry
    • Created for full-time VCU students who are facing food insecurity due to financial needs, to participate in the pantry, students must be full-time and complete an intake form
    • For those apply, the Ram Pantry accepts donations of money, food, and hygiene items
    • Ram Pantry has a self-serve station on the second floor of Cabell Library
  • VCU Division of Student Affairs Student Emergency Fund
    • An emergency financial tool for full-time VCU students who have experienced an unexpected event that has put them in a position of financial need
    • Students who are awarded money from this fund are expected to use it to pay for things like academic supplies, replacement of essential personal items, medications, or emergency childcare costs
  • VCU Libraries Staff and Faculty
    • VCU Libraries has an amazing staff and faculty that is available to help library users in their research
    • Liaison librarians at VCU Libraries specialize in a specific subject and are available for one-on-one appointments
  • How Do I... LibGuides
    • A series of LibGuides found on the VCU Libraries website designed to instruct students on a variety of important topics, ranging from how to find patents and standards to learning why vaccines are important
  • Cary Street Gym
    • Access to the Cary Street Gym is included with student fees

Resources in Health Sciences Library

  • Makerspace
    • Offers access to 3D printers, Cricut, laser cutter, VR systems, Juki sewing machine
    • Must attend an orientation session to use the makerspace
    • Library recommends that makerspace equipment is reserved in advance to ensure availability 
  • Audio Studio
    • Quiet space with a workspace designed for basic audio recording
    • Must be reserved in advance
  • Collaboration Room
    • Provides specialized equipment for multimedia projects
  • Lactation Room
    • A private room for individuals who need to pump or feed a baby
    • Free to use and access with a key that is checked out from the Service Desk

Resources in Cabell Library

  • The Workshop
    • Makerspace, studios, and workstations found in the basement level of Cabell Library
    • Offers different instructional classes on equipment and software provided by The Workshop
  • Health Sciences Library Makerspace
    • Offers access to 3D printers, Cricut, laser cutter, VR systems, Juki sewing machine
  • Lactation Room
    • Similar to the Health Science Library, Cabell has a private lactation room
  • Reflection Room
    • A silent room for individual, quiet reflection, pray, or medication available on a first-come basis
