Health Literacy

The plan seeks to engage organizations, professionals, policymakers, communities, individuals, and families in a linked, multi-sector effort to improve health literacy.

This paper describes 10 attributes of health literate health care organizations, that
is, health care organizations that make it easier for people to navigate, understand, and use information and services to take care of their health.

The AHRQ Health Literacy Universal Precautions Toolkit, 2nd edition, can help primary care practices reduce the complexity of health care, increase patient understanding of health information, and enhance support for patients of all health literacy levels.
