This workshop will introduce participants to use of microdata from the re-engineered 2014 "Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP)" and provide hands-on applications to prepare them to conduct their own SIPP-based research project.

ICPSR’s Deposit Manager provides the depositor more control over how data and documentation files are presented to the ICPSR curation team and more communication regarding project status and updates. The deposit manager is really a customizable deposit workspace that provides depositors with more flexibility in terms of accepted files types and sizes, project deposit collaboration space, and a history and deposit status that will initiate with your first deposit into our new system. 

What is ICPSR?

The VCU Libraries membership in ICPSR enables faculty, students, and staff across the social, behavioral, and medical sciences to download and analyze data relevant to:

  • arts and culture, college athletics
  • criminal justice, economics, education, gerontology, immigration
  • health care, hospitals, LGBT health, mental health, medical expenditures
  • political science, psychology, social work, sociology
  • substance abuse, terrorism, and more.


Statistical Software

To analyze ICPSR data you need statistical software e.g., SASSPSS, or STATA. All can be downloaded free of charge from VCU Technology Services, which also offers free statistical consulting (by appointment).

NOTE: Many ICPSR datasets are SDA enabled, meaning you can Analyze Data Online without SAS, SPSS, or Stata!
