“Reverence & Remembrance,” an exhibit at Cabell Library that honors those whose remains were uncovered in 1994 during the construction of a VCU medical building, is now on view on the fourth floor of James Branch Cabell Library. The display illuminates a dark chapter in VCU’s history when Black people’s bodies, after they were used for anatomical study in the 19th century, were dumped in mass graves in wells on the MCV Campus.

The History and Health online learning modules give VCU and VCU Health employees, students, and community members an opportunity to examine and reconcile the connection between our institution’s history and current health disparities in Richmond and beyond. Each of the self-paced modules can be completed in under an hour and the reflection must be submitted to count toward the badging opportunity, continuing education credit, or VCU Health DEI requirements.

The Institute for Public Health Innovation partnered with VCU Psychology to implement RVA Breathes. This program was a six-year NIH-funded research grant to assess the impact of evidence-based interventions on families with a child with uncontrolled asthma in Richmond, Virginia.
