Exact turnaround time can be difficult to estimate, as there are many factors that affect the speed of request processing and delivery. Please keep in mind that the times described below are average guidelines and do not guarantee an arrival time. You will receive an email notification when your request has been completed.
- Allow up to 2 business days (Monday - Friday) for physical books and media from the VCU Libraries collections to be delivered to the information desk hold shelf.
- Allow 1 - 4 weeks for physical books and media borrowed from other libraries.
- Articles may be delivered electronically within a few hours or may take up to 2 weeks, depending on availability.
- Allow an additional 1 – 3 days if you request an item be delivered to your home address.
- Some requests may take longer depending upon the availability, volume of requests, location of the lending library, and shipping delays.
- When placing a request, you may see an estimated arrival time, as well as a loan period. This is shown in the image below. Please note, this is still an estimate, not a guaranteed arrival date.
