VCU Libraries

Registered alumni may borrow books, CDs, and DVDs from the VCU Libraries physical collections. This page outlines borrowing privileges for Community and Friends of VCU Libraries, which includes Alumni.

Community Colleges

Virginia residents age 16 and older can obtain a borrowing card at their local community college, whether they are enrolled or not. A photo ID, such as a Virginia driver's license, is required.

Public Libraries

Library of Virginia offers borrowing privileges to any resident of Virginia. Photo identification, proof of residence, and current address are required. Online and mail registrations are available.

Public libraries offer borrowing privileges to anyone living in their region. Some of the resources available through your local public library may include:

  • Ebooks that can be downloaded to your cell phone, ereader or tablet
  • Access to popular magazines via your cell phone, ereader or tablet
  • DVDs and music
  • Research databases
  • Comfortable facilities to read or study
  • Community events and programming
