Grants and Funds in Health Sciences

In this guide you will find some helpful resources for identifying funding sources, utilizing VCU resources, and crafting an effective proposal.

Starting Points

The VCU Office of University Advancement and its Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) staff welcome opportunities to work closely with VCU faculty and researchers to identify and coordinate activities with corporations and foundations. The CFR staff works closely with the VCU Office of Research to pursue funding and to manage the grant process. The CFR staff provides guidance and assistance for faculty seeking private funding, and offer advice on strategic identification, cultivation and solicitation of potential funding sources.

VCU Libraries provides a variety of Directories with information on funding sources including The Foundation Directory. More directories are available at the VCU James Branch Cabell Library on the Monroe Park Campus, and can be identified by searching the VCU Libraries Catalog. The following subject headings may be used to search for funding related directories and books:

  • Fund raising
  • Proposal writing for grants
  • Foundations
  • Research support
  • Medical research grants
