Code of the Comics Magazine Association of America. Inc. Adopted on October 26, 1954, the enforcement of this Code is the basis for the comic magazine industry's program of self-regulation.

This citation guide leans toward the style of the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers. Hopefully, however, the guidelines can be adapted for other style manuals. Of basic importance is that the citation of comic books for scholarly writing should incorporate four basic elements, as appropriate: writer, artist, story title, and publication information (including, as appropriate, publication title, volume, issue number, date, publisher, page, and panel).

ComicsResearch.org primarily covers book-length works about comic books and comic strips, from "fannish" histories to academic monographs, providing detailed information and guidance on further research.

The COMIX-SCHOLARS-L list is an academic forum which serves the interests of those involved in research, criticism and teaching related to comics art. All aspects of comics and cartooning from around the world are open for discussion. Likewise, we welcome theoretical and critical approaches from all disciplinary perspectives.
