Use the Scanners for Free!

Use our Scannx Scanners to scan materials for free! Scanners feature a flatbed scanner and a sheet feeder to accept documents.

Simply use the touch screen to scan your document, and send it to any e-mail address, Google Drive, library printer, or save it to your USB drive! 

Scanners are located:

  • In the Cabell Library on the 1st floor 
  • In the Tompkins-McCaw Library on the 1st and 2nd floors

Innovative Media Scanners at Cabell Library

Scanning services for PCs and Macs are located on the lower level of Cabell Library in The Workshop (Innovative Media). Scan images, slides, negatives, transparencies, and text to a variety of digital formats. Scanners are equipped with large flatbeds and automatic document feeders. Software includes Adobe Photoshop CS4, Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, Scansoft Omnipage 15 and more.

Scanners at Tompkins-McCaw Library

Scanning Services for PCs and Macs

Scanning services at the Tompkins-McCaw Library are located on the first and second floors. These stations can be used for scanning images, text, slides, and microfilm. The microfilm scanner is not connected to the network, so please bring a USB drive to save your files. Software available at these stations includes Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat Professional, and Illustrator.

Multimedia Collaboration Room

Scanning is also available in the Multimedia Collaboration Room (MCR), on the basement level in room B-037. The MCR is a self-service facility available to VCU faculty, staff, and students for multimedia computing and study. Orientations to the MCR are available.
